The International Court of Justice Demands an End to the Occupation of Palestine

July 19, 2024 – UN – In an advisory opinion requested by the United Nations General Assembly, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) declares that the State of Israel is obligated to end its unlawful presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory without delay.

The Court adds that Israel must immediately cease all new settlement activities, evacuate all settlers from the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and redress the harm caused to all natural or legal persons concerned in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

Furthermore, all States are obligated not to recognize as lawful the situation resulting from the unlawful presence of the State of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and not to render aid or assistance in maintaining the situation created by the continued presence of the State of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
