“our Genocide,” the B’TSELEM Report

July 2025 B’Tselem – The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories concludes that a genocide exists.

The report “Our Genocide,” published on July 14, 2025, deeply analyzes Israel’s conduct in Gaza since October 2023, concluding that it constitutes genocide under international law, particularly the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
It demonstrates that Israeli practices – massive strikes, destruction of essential infrastructure, prohibition of food entry, dismantling of the healthcare system, deprivation of electricity, water, and municipal services – are part of a coordinated logic aimed not only at killing but also at annihilating Palestinian society as a whole. B’Tselem warns that these acts of violence are not confined to Gaza: they also extend, albeit to a lesser extent, to the occupied West Bank and Israel itself, forming a recognizable continuum of the methods employed.

Furthermore, the report denounces the devastating effects on family structure and the future generation: approximately 14,000 women have become widows, and 40,000 children have lost one or both parents – which probably constitutes the greatest orphan crisis of the modern era. It also mentions the targeted destruction of education: schools and universities have been rendered unusable, depriving an entire generation of a normal academic future – which amounts to long-term social destruction.

The report calls on the Israeli population, decision-makers, and the international community to act immediately, using all legal means to put an end to this genocide, the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories, and the apartheid system.

The publication of this report came as a shock – it is the first time that leading NGOs within Israel have explicitly described their government’s policy in Gaza as genocide.
