The crime of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression are punishable under international law. We have summarized the legal texts that define and punish these crimes. And we have done the same regarding the obligations of the 196 States signatory to the Geneva Conventions – which protect, in times of war, persons who do not or no longer participate in hostilities: civilians, wounded, prisoners.
